Residents of Jikwoyi in the Federal Capital Territory have called on the government to come to their aid describing the power situation in the area as criminal.

They condemned the irregular supply of power while being made to pay huge bills every month.

Speaking to GWG, some of the residents called on the government to take drastic action against the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC.

According to Mary, a resident, “Before 10th of every month, they have started going round distributing bills for that month. And the bills are on the high side. How can someone pay N10,000 for darkness? Sometimes they give us light six hours in a day.

Another resident lamented that the light comes only around midnight when it is not useful.
AEDC has also been plagued with its internal ownership squabbles among its directors.
