Itse Sagay has taken up Abubakar Malami on his declaration that the Southwest regional outfit, Amotekun, is illegal saying that Southwest governors should ignore him.

Sagay, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), said that Malami, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) has no powers to direct the governors on how to provide security for their people.

According to him, the governors do not need to consult Malamii on how best to secure their states or region.

Sagay who has in the past asked the president to remove the anti-graft agencies of the Federal Government from the control of Malami spoke in an interview with Daily Independent.

Sagay’s reaction followed Malami’s declaration on Tuesday that Amotekun was illegal.

He said the governors did not consult him on the initiative and that they violated the provisions of the constitution which put security in the exclusive jurisdiction of the Federal Government.
