Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth has urged residents of Imo State to remain calm over the Supreme Court’s verdict on the March 9, governorship election in the state.

Recall that the Apex Court, on Tuesday, sacked Chief Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as governor of Imo and declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election.

Speaking with newsmen in Enugu, the National Youth Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth, Chief Obiora noted that it is imperative for political gladiators in Imo State to pursue people’s interests and embrace peace.

Obiora further called on those who hold the mantle of leadership in the state to live up to the expectations of the people and fulfills their electioneering campaign promises to them.

In his words: Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing is asking for calmness in the whole of Imo”.

“We may not agree with the Supreme Court’s judgment but we are duty-bound as law-abiding and responsible citizens to accept it.

“We ask the new government to ensure that it keeps its campaign promises made to the good people of Imo at the end of the day.

“Ohaneze believes that good governance is all about bringing the dividends of democracy to the people.

“And the very best of good governance is what the peace-loving people and residents of Imo want now.”
