Premiership: A Weekend Of Blockbusters

The Premier League kicks off with high-flying Leicester entertaining Chelsea. Can Lampard’s side cause a dent on Leicester’s quest for a UCL spot? Other clashes see Manchester United host Wolves as fans look to catch the first glimpse of new signings like Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo.

Leaders Liverpool welcome Southampton while the biggest match of the round sees Jose Mourinho against Pep Guardiola yet again as Tottenham and Manchester City face off?. How will these games turn out to be?

LEICESTER VS CHELSEA: The foxes are in contention to play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2016/2017 after they won the league. They were recently eliminated by  Aston Villa from the Carabao Cup.

They are now focused on finishing in the top four and won’t like to drop points at home. For Chelsea, they have one of the best away records in the league this season and winning this game won’t come as a surprise. Tammy Abraham’s impressive goal scoring form has uplifted the Blues  this season. The fixture will be filled with goals at both ends.

Prediction: 2:2

MANCHESTER UNITED VS WOLVES: Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side put up a good fight against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Carabao Cup.

Nemanja Matic’s first half strike was the solitary goal of the game as the Red Devils crashed out on aggregate 3-2. New signings like Bruno Fernades and Odion Ighalo on loan could help them secure a top four spot. Wolves have beaten defending champions Manchester City home and away this season. They aren’t intimidated by the big names and are always on the look out for shabby defenses as they possess a weapon in the form of Adama Traore’s speed.

It will be a cagey encounter. Although Wolves can force an elusive victory.

LIVERPOOL VS SOUTHAMPTON: An unbeaten record so far this season makes Liverpool the most feared and respected team in the whole of Europe at the moment. Sadio Mane’s injury didn’t prevent them from defeating West Ham in the previous game. Southampton will just hope to concede lesser goals in this game. They don’t stand a chance.

Prediction: 2-0

MANCHESTER CITY VS TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR: The biggest game of the weekend is between Pep Guardiola’s City and Jose Mourinho’s Spurs. It should be a riveting display from both sides. Guardiola’s men love to pass the ball and Mourinho’s men will sit back and soak the pressure. Manchester City will eventually break down the walls of Tottenham’s stubborn defense and win the game.
