Lawan, Gbajabiamila: Why We Met Buhari

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila met on Monday with President Muhammadu Buhari following which they said they asked for increased funding for the police.

The two presiding officers of the National Assembly told State House Correspondents that the President Buhari is concerned about the worrisome security situation in the country.

On his part, the Speaker said the lower chamber had constituted a committee involving the two arms of government and the party to periodically review the issue of security across the country.

He downplayed the resolution of the House calling for the resignation of Service Chiefs over insecurity since the Inspector General of Police was responsible for internal security of the country.

The Senate President, said the NASS was willing to work with the executive to tackle the challenges emphasizing need for close collaboration.
