Europe’s elite club competition resumes on Tuesday after a short break with high-flying  Borussia Dortmund taking on French giants PSG while Atletico Madrid host current holders Liverpool in Spain.

The action continues tomorrow as Tottenham face a tricky RB Lipezig side and Atalanta battle with Valencia in Italy. There is a huge delirium that is derived from the Uefa Champions League knockout stages. 

However, before the commencement of the knockout matches, these are some interesting facts from the 2019/2020 Champions League Group stage matches.

Italy’s veteran goalkeeper Gianlugi Buffon became the second oldest player to feature in the competition at 41 years and 317 days old.

FC Barcelona’s rising star Ansu Fati became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the UEFA Champions League after scoring against Inter Milan on match-day 6 at 17 years and 40 days old.

Bayern Munich were the highest goal scoring team as their 24 goals helped them secure top spot in Group B.

Robert Lewandowski was the highest goal scorer in the group stage as he found the back of the net 10 times.

Hakim Ziyech provided the highest assists. The playmaker had 5 assists to his name.

Keylor Navas of PSG was reliable in the goalkeeping aspect of the pitch. He kept four clean sheets which was the highest by any goalkeeper .

Mirajem Pjanic was the commander in Chief of the midfield as he completed 478 passes to help Juventus top Group D.

Manchester City were the masters of the passing game with 3033 complete passes.

Bayern Munich were the only team with a 100% record as they won all the matches and attained maximum 24 points from their six games.
