Police Hold Ogun Herbalist For Armed Robbery

A herbalist was among six suspected armed robbers arrested by the Ogun State police command on Tuesday.

They were arrested following investigations into the armed robbery operation at Akorede Estate , Ololoore area of Ogun State.

It was learnt that the six alongside the gang leader who is still on the run on January 21 robbed residents of the estate during which they left one of their victims, Alfa Rifhat Ashraf half dead in a pool of blood.

Following instructions from the Ogun State commissioner of police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson to apprehend the culprits, the Divisional Police Officer, Lafenwa division, CSP Muraina Ayilara, was reported to have apprehended one of the suspects who subsequently led the police to their operational base.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP  Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, “  On reaching there,  the place was cordoned off but surprisingly, the hoodlums attacked the police with cutlasses, consequent upon which one of them was shot and five others arrested alongside  the herbalist.

“One laptop, five different types of handsets, one cutlass and charms were recovered from them. . The gang leader who is popularly known as ‘AK’ escaped and a serious manhunt has been launched to effect his arrest.

“The arrested culprits are: Tosin Adebanjo;  Toheeb Ogundare, Ahmed Oloyede,  Emmanuel Ogunshina  a.k.a Emma SARS , Adebisi Remilekun and Sunkanmi Ogundimu, the herbalist.

“The victims have identified some of the arrested culprits as those who invaded their house on that fateful day. Meanwhile, the CP  has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the  Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS for  discreet investigation.”
