The faceoff between Great Ogboru and Ovie Omo-Agege in the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC was on Thursday degenerating following the decision of the State Working Committee, SWC to launch a probe of the party’s performance in the 2019 General Election.

Party sources disclosed that the probe aims to unravel why the party performed so poorly despite the huge resources provided for the election. The probe will also investigate the utilization of the funds earmarked for the governorship election in which Ogboru was candidate.

Ogboru’s aides and associates according to a party source will be invited as part of the inquiry.

The probe follows the degeneration of the relationship between the two former political collaborators who between them have displaced the dominant Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from the Delta Central Senatorial District.

A source close to the state chairman, Prophet Jones Erue told GreenWhiteGreen, “Ogboru started this,” he said in reference to the aborted move by some members of the State Executive Committee, SEC to remove Erue as state chairman.

Erue has sided with Omo-Agege and is now drawn in battle with Ogboru on the side of the deputy president of the Senate.

The probe it was gathered would “investigate the roles played by the election funds handlers and their involvement particularly, the gubernatorial campaign DG Mr. George Timinimi, Director of Finance Mrs Harriet Amoku, Director of Security Mr. Godwin Akpovi, the party’s State Organizing Secretary, Sir Sunny Mene who was nominated by the gubernatorial canidate to represent the party in the campaign council and who also represented the gubernatorial candidate during the disbursement of the election campaign funds.”

The crisis between Ogboru and Omo-Agege was manifest at the thanksgiving of the deputy president of the Senate in Ughelli last weekend as Ogboru following the absence of Ogboru.
