Following the irreconcilable differences in the out of court settlement terms, Justice Abiodun Adebara of a Kwara State High Court, sitting in Ilorin, has adjourned the suit, challenging the state government’s revocation of land, in which the Ile Arugbo was built in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Recall that Justice Adebara, in his ruling, on January 24, advised both parties involved in the suit- the state government led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Olusola Saraki’s family to opt for out-of-court settlement.

Counsels to the parties involved in the suit told the court that the peace talks could not materialize due to irreconcilable difference over the terms of settlement.

Counsel to the Asa Investment Limited, a company owned by Olusola Saraki, AbdulAziz Ibrahim told the court that the terms of his clients were not satisfied, which are “the reversal of the revocation order placed on the disputed land, reconstruction of the partially demolished structures on the land and offering of an apology to the aged women that were harassed on the night when the structures were pulled down.”

Ibrahim noted that the state government insistence on the term that the revocation order placed on the disputed land stands because of public interest stalled the settlement.

Also, counsel to the State Government, Salman Jawondo, who Is also the state’s Attorney-General  and Commissioner for Justice, told the court that “the claimants came out frontally that their demand for the reversal of the revocation order placed on the disputed land was not negotiable.”

Jawondo, however, called for the properly hearing of the suit.

Justice Adebara ruled that the case be adjourn till March 25 for hearing.
