Two Men Charged For Stealing Ponmo

A  Chief Magistrates’ Court in Badagry, Lagos State on Tuesday ordered that two men, who allegedly stole cow skin,  ‘Ponmo’ worth N200,000, be remanded in a correctional centre.

The police charged Salami Yakubu, 25;  and Sanusi Abubakar, 29; of no fixed addresses, with theft.

Chief Magistrate Segun Aka-Bashorun ordered that the defendants be remanded in Awanjigor Correctional Centre, Badagry.

Aka-Bashorun adjourned the case until March 25, for mention.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution counsel, ASP Clement Okuiomose, told the court that the defendants committed the offence between Jan. 28, and Jan. 30, at about 8 p.m. at Sito on the Badagry Seme border in Badagry, Lagos State.

Okuiomose said that the defendants stole two bags of roasted cow skin valued at N200,000, belonging to the complainant, Odufale Olakunle.

He said that the defendants were arrested and handed over to the Police.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
