Police Rescue 12 Ladies In Ogun Baby Factory

The Ogun State Police Command has rescued 12 women, including six pregnant women in a suspected baby-making factory.

The police disclosed that the illicit facility was managed by one Florence Ogbonna, located at Imedu Oloro area of Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the State.

The State Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, on Thursday, noted that one of the captives escaped the facility and reported at Mowe division.

“Upon her report, the DPO Mowe division, SP Marvis Jayeola, mobilised his detectives to the scene where 12 ladies between the ages of 20-25 years were rescued with six amongst them heavily pregnant”, Mr Oyeyemi said.

Oyeyemi gave the names of the suspect as Florence Ogbonna, Chibuke Akabueze and Chibuzor Okafor.

He also disclosed that the manager of the facility, Mrs. Ogbonna, usually organized men to sleep with the inmates to impregnate them. He further disclosed that the babies that are born are normally taken away at birth from the mothers.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation.
