Atiku’s COVID-19 Stirs Emotion On Social Media

A strong outpouring of emotions has flowed across the country following the revelation by former vice president Atiku Abubakar that one of his sons has been stricken with the coronavirus.

Atiku did not disclose the name of his son affected.

Messages of support came on social media from friends and foes including the influential twitter personality and activist, Aisha Yesuf.

There have also been sidekicks by political pundits with some hailing him as a transparent leader who rose to the occasion with some insinuations that he could have managed the situation of the country better.

There were also some others who hit at him as a member of the political class who has fallen to the frailty common to all men.

Earlier, Atiku had prayed for support for all those who had been infected.

Atiku had disclosed his son’s case via his twitter handle thus:

My son has tested positive to coronavirus. @NCDCGov has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management. I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real. -AA

His messages were followed by the following response on twitter.

Atiku was busy tweeting, FG should do this and that, including travels restrictions. But didn’t advise his party to shutdown their rally in Ibadan. This is why I kept saying that not all advisers meant well. Atiku just exposed his level of hypocrisy.
