The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria climbed to 30 late on Sunday after three new cases were reported in Lagos. The three added to the 27 cases that had earlier been reported in the day.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC in a tweet said that two of the three new cases all of which are from Lagos came from returnees to the country. The other came from a local transmission.

The NCDC said:

In the light of the increased number of reported cases, the Lagos State Government on Sunday ordered non-essential workers between Levels 1 and 12 in its workforce to stay at home for the next two weeks.

The order is expected to enforce social distancing that has been said to help stem transmission of the disease.
