Nigerians Chide Funke Akindele, Want Her Punished

Nollywood star actress, Funke Akindele and her husband, Adulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz have come under social media fire for organizing a house party, amidst the Coronavirus outbreak.
On Saturday, a house party was organized in Amen Estate, Lagos to celebrate Akindele’s husband birthday.
The party was attended by the likes of Naira Marley and Eniola Badmus and was organized against the general caution for social distancing.
Ms. Badmus had herself been under fire for not quarantining herself after a recent trip to the United Kingdom.
Funke Akindele has appeared on many COVID-19 sensitization videos, appealing to Nigerians to engage in preventive measures against COVID-19, like hand-washing and social distancing.
The star actress is one of the campaigners of Nigeria Center for Disease Control, as a result of her role, many Nigerians believe that the actress should be of good example by practicing what she is preaching.
When the video of the house party broke on the internet, many Twitter users lambasted Akindele and her husband for hosting a house party in this period of time.
In a swift reaction, Funke Akindele, took to her Twitter account, to tweet (now-deleted tweet) that those who attended the house party had been in Amen Estate for two weeks and they took the necessary precautions.
Her husband, Jjc Skillz, took to his Instagram page, on a live video to lambast the critics saying they could afford to do so because they were using their data.
“We had an unexpected house turn up, yesterday, a lot of people are ranting and talking online, it is your data, you are very free.” Jjc Skillz said.
