First Lady Aisha Buhari has commiserated with the family of Mallam Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff to the president following his demise on Friday.

In a message to the widow on her verified twitter handle, Nigeria’s First Lady consoled the widow of her husband’s late top aide and prayed Allah to forgive his shortcomings and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

She followed up with a prayer for all others infected with the coronavirus to be healed.

She said:

(From God Almighty we came and to him we shall return) I condole with Mrs. Kulu Abba Kyari and the entire family of Late Malam Abba Kyari over the death of their husband and father.

I pray that Allah (SWT) will forgive his shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannatul Firdausi and give the family  the fortitude and patience to bear the loss, Ameen.

While wishing all those infected a speedy recovery and I pray for an end to Covid-19 Pandemic.

The First Lady’s reaction was long waited for, given the acrimony that reportedly shadowed their relationship while he lived.

Remarkably, the message on Twitter was accompanied by a rare picture of the two of them sitting together in a public function.

The First Lady was commended for her grace in praying for his soul and condoling with his family despite their well-reported differences.

Twitter user Nwogugu Uche said:

“Weldone ma at least dey won’t accuse u if not consoling them. We understand.

Twitter user Danie Samie responded to her message saying:

“The First Lady in her words. Soft and true Amen.”

Another twitter user, adesholaj7 said: “This is a very commendable one. Inspite of all the I’ll treatment meted you….hmmmmm…I admire your forgiving spirit. God bless you and continue to purge our land of all evils/doers. Thank you.”

Another twitter user, C.E.O, tweeting at @KinNebo, however, cut in saying,

“Does she have a choice??? Do you expect her to mock his death on Twitter??? Forget facial expression and look into the heart.”

Her concise message was considered by some to have almost been packaged in the same tone of that of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The First Lady ended her message with a prayer for the quick recovery of other victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, just as the PDP’s message conveyed a message for the quick recovery of the other victims.

The PDP had said:

“Similarly, the PDP commiserates with families of all the victims of COVID-19 pandemic and prays for the speedy recovery of the sick who are receiving treatment in various isolation centers.”
