Policemen Who Beat Osun Woman Dismissed

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed two police officers who assaulted a woman trying to buy drugs from the pharmacy during the enforcement of the Coronavirus lockdown in Iwo, Osun State.

The woman who was identified as Tola Azeez was assaulted and brutalised by the police officers, last Saturday, In Odo Ori Market in Iwo, while trying to buy drugs for her relatives.

The two officers were named as Inspector, Ikuesan Taiwo, and Corporal, Abass Ibrahim.

The victim, Ms Azeez, while speaking with journalists regarding the incident, on Wednesday, said, “I am still under medical and psychological examination as the damage done to me physically, emotionally and psychologically are unquantifiable. I only pray to overcome the pains and the trauma in no distant time.”

The Nigeria Police Force, in an update, on its verified Twitter handle, late Friday, disclosed that the two officers were found guilty of misconduct, consequently dismissed from service.

“Inspector Ikuesan Taiwo and Police Constable, Abass Ibrahim captured in a viral video assaulting a woman in Osun have been tried and found guilty.

“They have been dismissed from the force and they will be arraigned in court for prosecution.”
