The Cross River State Government has warned officials of the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC that they would be quarantined if they step into the state for any engagement.

The chairman of the Cross River State 19 Task Force on COVID -19 Dr. Betta Edu disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Wednesday.

Rebuffing insinuations by NCDC officials that the three states yet to report cases of COVID-19 were involved in a cover-up, she accused the NCDC of offering bribes to some citizens of the state to claim symptoms of COVID-19 as a way to smear the state.

“If they or anyone whether from NCDC or anywhere enters the state they will be isolated and quarantined for 14 days according to NCDC protocols,” she said.

Affirming that no one had been found with the virus in the state, she accused NCDC officials of enticing certain unnamed citizens of the state with bribes running into millions of naira to support the claim that Cross River has COVID-19 patients.

Cross River, Kogi and Yobe States are the only three states in the country yet to report any case of COVID-19.
