Rivers To Sue Over Deduction Of N11 Billion From FAAC

The Rivers State Government is to challenge the unilateral withdrawal of N11 billion from the Federation Account to the police in the courts, Governor Nyesom Wike announced on Friday.

Speaking in Port Harcourt, the governor said it was wrong for the Federal Government to withdraw the amount without the consensus of the states.

He said: “Our lawyers will prepare our papers and we will go to court.  Nobody says you cannot support the police,  but you must get the consent of states before taking their money.  I have told the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum  that Rivers State will challenge this matter in court.”

Rivers States along some other Niger Delta states contribute the bulk of the inflow into the Federation Account.
