Again Kano Leads As COVID-19 Cases Cross 2,000

For the second time in as many days, Kano State on Friday topped the list of COVID-19 cases in the country with 92 of the 238 cases reported in the country.

The 238 cases reported in 22 states and the FCT was the highest ever daily cases reported in the country since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The dire prospects for Kano came amid increased optimism for Lagos which had until Wednesday consistently led the daily cases among the states. Lagos State with 30 cases was third in the daily tally of the states coming behind Kano and the FCT which had a record total of 32 cases on Friday.

Friday also saw the total number of cases in the country for the first time crossing 2,000 as the cases in the country reached a total of 2,170 since the pandemic touched Nigeria last February.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC in its daily report on the COVID-19 pandemic in the country also reported a record increase in the number of deaths with 10 persons having been reported dead on Friday.
