Nigeria recorded a 26% increase in new cases of the novel coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday following 184 cases reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

However, there was a significant change in the distribution of new cases with significant decrease in the number of new cases reported by the two states that had until now been the hotbed of the disease.

GreenWhiteGreen tracking of the number of new cases shows Lagos and Kano significantly reducing their contribution to the number of reported cases over the last three days.

Lagos on Monday reported 88 cases representing 36% of the 242 total cases reported on that day while Kano reported 64 cases (27%) with the two states contributing 63% of the total number of new cases.

The two states had until not too long ago contributed by far more than half of the number of new cases in the country.
