Godwin Obaseki has dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, multiple sources in Benin have said.
Close associates familiar with the development told GWG that the governor sent three letters to President Muhammadu Buhari, to the national secretariat of the APC and to fellow governors in the Progressive Governors Forum, PGF.
Obaseki was until his resignation the deputy chairman of the PGF.
His decision to quit the APC follows the spat between him and his predecessor and present national chairman of the APC.
“I can confirm it to you that he has resigned, a close associate of the governor told GWG on Tuesday afternoon. He has told those that should know including the President, the national secretariat and the Progressives Governors Forum, PGF,” the source said.
