Reports over the circulation of a video depicting Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State allegedly collecting dollars from a contractor in Benin, the Edo State capital has generated reactions on the social media.

Ganduje is the Chairman of the National Campaign Council of the All Progressive Congress, APC for the Edo State Governorship election.

In 2018, a video depicting the image of the governor went viral and it showed him collecting stuffing dollars from various persons alleged to be contractors.

Following his appointment as the chairman of the APC campaign council, the governor had vowed to isolate his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP counterpart, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

Governor Wike had fired back with the claim that he could not be pocketed like dollars.

In Edo State, the battle has also gone practical with the mount of a big screen with the Gandollar film repeatedly being shown.

The prospect of the authorities in Benin supporting the screening of the video may not be unconnected to the perceived hostility of Governor Ganduje towards Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Ganduje had backed the disqualification of the governor from the APC contest and is a known associate of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Obaseki’s estranged political godfather.

On Thursday, some social media users uploaded videos showing a billboard displaying the Ganduje’s dollar incident.

The development has generated mixed reactions from Twitter users.

A section of Twitter users argued that the billboard video of Ganduje is yet another political strategic to discredit the APC campaign team ahead of the election.

Some opined that while the APC is engaging in issues-based campaign, PDP is carried away with activities to discredit their counterpart, instead of focusing on how to win the election.
