NASS audit report

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has brushed aside the protest by Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Omolori and named Ojo Amos Olatunde as the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly (CNA).

The chairman of the commission, Ahmed Amshi in a statement issued on Friday, July 17, 2020 also named persons into other positions in the senior management of the National Assembly.

The development follows the resistance to the memo by Amshi asking Sani-Omolori to step aside as Clerk of the National Assembly, CNA following the decision to implement the 35 years service or 60 year old rule in retiring officers of the National Assembly.

Sani-Omolori had, however, countered the memo with another memo asking management and staff to ignore the memo.

That fired a query from the commission.

Others appointed in the top management of the commission by Amshi in the circular include:

Bala Mohammed – Acting Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly

Dauda El-Rufai-Ladan – Acting Clerk of the Senate

Patrick Giwa   – To remain Clerk of the House of Representatives pending his retirement in November, 2020

Yusuf Danbatta – Acting Secretary to the National Assembly Service Commission.

The appointments are, however, expected to generate concern given the notable absence of some sections of the country from the appointments.
