The Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has come under another attack on the social media for sympathizing with the victims of Beirut explosions, while allegedly keeping mute on the gruesome killings in Nigeria.

On Tuesday, Beirut, Lebanon’s capital was hit by multiple explosions leading to the death of at least 73 persons. An estimated 3,700 persons were also injured and several properties destroyed, Aljazeera reported.

The massive explosions drew the sympathy of many people around the world, including world leaders.

Reacting to the development, Ahmad took to his verified Twitter handle to bemoan the footage of the incident, while offering prayers for those affected.

“It’s hard to believe the footages coming out from Beirut, Lebanon this evening, I have never seen scenes as horrific as those footages, my heart so shattered. My thoughts and prayers go to all families affected by the explosion,” Ahmad wrote.

Ahmad’s tweet about the Beiruit incident did not go down well will many Nigerians, who were expecting the presidential aide to have started his comments with the gruesome killings in his country, Southern Kaduna in particular.

Many Twitter users accused the presidential aide for being hypocritical and insensitive to the plight of fellow Nigerians and concentrating on the Lebanon’s explosion.
