Adesina appointment

Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has described Wednesday’s #RevolutionNow protest as a distraction and irritation not representative of the opinion of Nigeria’s 200 million Nigerians.

His assertion has, however, been strongly rebuffed on social media where critics accused him of being cut out of the reality of the Nigerian situation.

Mr. Adesina, while appearing on Sunrise Daily, a Channels TV morning programme alongside Tope Akinyode, a human rights lawyer, had dismissed the Wednesday protest as funny and should not be taken serious.

“There is nothing to worry about it, revolution is always a mad scene, not sprinkle boys and girls we saw yesterday in different part of the country. This is a funny thing.

“What happened yesterday was just an irritation, ” Adesina said.

The #RevolutionNow protest is the brain child of Omoyele Sowore, Publisher of Sahara Reporters, and was called to protest alleged bad governance, corruption, insecurity, and unemployment.

Many Nigerians have criticized Adesina for his comments that played down the reasons behind the protest, arguing that the presidential aide will understand the ephemeral nature of power after 2023.
