593 New Cases, COVID-19 Tally Surpasses 50,000

Nigeria’s COVID-19 numbers passed 50,000 cases on Wednesday after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC reported 593 new cases of the pandemic in the country.

It was the highest number of daily cases in the month of August.

The 593 cases were reported in 15 states and the FCT with Plateau State reporting the highest number with 186 cases followed by Lagos with 172 and the FCT with 62 cases.

There were four mortalities which brought the total number of mortalities to 985 just as the number of recoveries jumped to 37,304.
