Dogara: The Politics In Bauchi Commissioner’s Exit

Former Bauchi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Hon. Mohammed Al-Hassan Sadiq on Wednesday resigned from his position.

In a statement following his resignation, he commended former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara for “his support and role he played in influencing” his appointment and performance as commissioner.

Sadiq is one of the strong loyalists of Dogara and was the only one nominated into the Bauchi government by the former Speaker.

A former executive director in NIMASA he had been the campaign manager of all Dogara’s past campaigns for the House of Representatives.

Prior to his exit from the Bauchi cabinet, GWG gathered that the stage was being set for his removal following the rancor that trailed the exit of his political leader from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP a month ago.

It was understood that Sadiq’s oversight over all the agencies under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries had been reassigned to another commissioner.

In a statement following his resignation, he said:

Every beginning has an end.

Today, the 19th day of August, 2020, I have honourably tendered my voluntary resignation as a Commissioner (Ministry of Commerce & Industries) and a Member of the State Executive Council in the Government of Bauchi State.

It was a rare privileged and opportunity to have served my state in such an exalted position.

I thank H.E the Executive Governor – Sen. Bala A. Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi)for the wonderful opportunity accorded to me. In the same vein, I must appreciate my boss H.E, the Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara for his usual support and the role he played in influencing same.

I sincerely thank all my colleagues in the EXCO and the Ministry, whom we have worked with as a formidable team.

I have enjoyed the Understanding of my family at such a trying time.

I beseech God to forgive all my wrongs and the general public/colleagues to pardon me.

I urge you to help me, pray God to grant me success, contentment and peace of mind in my new endeavor.

With Dogara now a resounding factor in 2023 political calculations, Sadiq may have chosen to project loyalty with the expectation of national relevance over the disregard in the Bauchi cabinet.
