Ogunsola Emerges First Female VC Of UNILAG

Professor Folasade Ogunsola has been elected as the new acting Vice-Chancellor of University Lagos by the institution Senate.

The lady who made history as the first female provost of the university’s College of Medicine is an expert in HIV/AIDS.

She polled 135 votes out of 167 votes, which is the number of professors accredited for the process, closely followed by Professor Ben Ogbojafor with 31 votes.

Only one void vote was recorded.

Before her emergence, she was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services of the institution.

Recall that last week, the Federal Government ordered the suspension of UNILAG Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Wale Babalakin, and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, to give room for a panel to investigate the crisis rocking the institution.

While the institution’s Senate was directed to elect a new Vice-Chancellor.
