Manchester City duo, Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte have tested positive for COVID-19.
This is coming few days to the start of the 2020/2021 season of the English Premier League on September 12th, although Manchester City will not be playing in the weekend due to their extended Champion League match in Lisbon.
The club, in a statement on its website announced that the duo of Mahrez and Laporte have tested positive for COVID-19.
Man City wrote, “Manchester City FC can confirm that Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte have tested positive for Covid-19.
“Both players are currently observing a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine. Neither is displaying symptoms of the virus.
“Everyone at the Club wishes Riyad and Aymeric a speedy recovery ahead of their return to training and the new season.”
The Algerian star, Mahrez, quoted the club’s tweet, urging fans to be calm that he is good.
“Thank you for all the nice messages, I’m good. Stay safe everyone take care of you ????,” Mahrez said.
