Barca Looking Good Still Without Suarez

Barcelona’s 4-0 astounding victory over Villarreal in their first game of the La Liga season sent a strong message to other sides. Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati found the back of the net for the Catalan giants.

Many would have envisaged a difficult game for Barcelona as Luis Suarez has joined Atletico Madrid. More so, the Uruguayan scored a brace on his debut.

Ronald Koeman did a good job in filling the vacuum which Suarez left from an attacking perspective. Lionel Messi who almost left the club did what he is best known for by running at defenders, dropping back, making incisive passes and inspiring the team. In a nutshell, he was superb in his free role.

What Next For Barcelona?

Having won their first game of the season, they have shown that they are ready to weather the storm for the rest of this campaign. Their most bitter rivals, Real Madrid have not been convincing as defending champions. They shared the spoils against Real Sociedad in their first game and struggled to beat Real Betis in the second game.

There are encouraging signs for Barcelona ahead of the season. Mostly, their humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League will stimulate them to do better in all competitions.
