The decomposed body of a senior staff of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) in Nasarawa State, Mrs Angelina Tyem has been found in  her private apartment in Lafia  four days after she was  not seen .

It was alleged that , Mrs Tyem,  a senior administrative officer at FULafia  and a Women Leader of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FULafia Chapter  whose decomposed body was found on Sunday was  murdered by assassins four days ago.

The deceased  had contested for the  Akwanga North  State constituency in the 2019 general election under the platform of NNPP.

One of her colleagues at the university, Mrs Dorcas Inyang said that her decayed body was found by neighbours in her apartment located  in Sabon Pegi area of Lafia town, in the early hours of Sunday.

According to Mrs Inyang , the deceased had  posted on her Facebook page  before the incident narrating how  thieves  broke into her apartment  and made away with her belongings while she was away.

” On the 19th of September, 2020, Mrs Tyem made a post on how robbers  emptied her  house in her absence  and solicited  prayers from friends  because according to her she was  traumatised at that moment.

” Also she had an accident on  June 26th in Jos  but she was discharged and was fully recovered before the  sad incident occurred.

” Mrs Angelina Tyem was a very hard-working staff with Federal University Lafia and  also the women leader of SSANU . She was a friend and colleague . A woman  that was very caring , loving and always wearing a smiling face.

” Her demise  is a great loss to the university and the community as a whole. We pray that the assassins will not go unpunished and we also pray that may her soul find rest with the Lord.

” In recent times , the killings and Kidnapping have become  so alarming . The government of Nasarawa  State should  wake up and do something to salvage this ugly situation  because we do not know who will be the next victim.

” We are calling on the goverment to come to the  aid of  its citizens so that such things will not repeat itself,” she said.

On his part,  the SSANU chairman , FULafia,   Mr Monday Sarki who visited the scene, stated in an interview that the deceased was murdered, and that her car and phones were not found in the apartment.

“I was called this morning around 9.am that our women leader was found dead in her room, and that the neigbours discovered her dead body. That because she was meant to travel last Wednesday and so the neighbours thought she had travelled.

“But somehow they noticed that the house was oozing with a bad stench and one of the neighbours while searching found that her kitchen door from the backyard was widely opened and her dead body was found in the house.

“We went there in company of the police, I even have the pictures. We went inside the house and noticed that she was stabbed, she was murdered four days ago by unknown persons. Nobody knows the whereabout of her car and her phones. Right now, her body has been conveyed by the University Ambulance to Sandaji Mortuary in Lafia,” Mr Sarki  said.

When contacted,  Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)  ASP Ramhan Nansel  confirmed the incident  but however said “I am yet to get the full brief, I will get back to you.”
