Teacher Vs Pupil Showdown As Chelsea Hosts Spurs

Stamford Bridge will be the cynosure of all eyes as the mouth-watering fixture between Chelsea and Tottenham takes place on Sunday. The duo have won their last five Premier League games this season and they are set to rekindle their rivalry.

Hitherto, both sides collided in the Carabao Cup which Jose Mourinho’s men won on penalties. This time, Frank Lampard who played under Jose Mourinho will go toe to toe with his former manager in what will be Chelsea owner, Roman Abrahimovic’s 1000th game since he became the owner of the London club.

Coming into the tie, Spurs are two points ahead of Chelsea. Tottenham striker, Harry Kane has been in an impeccable form this season that has seen him involved in 16 Premier League goals through scoring seven goals and bagging nine assists, more than any other player.

He is averaging a goal or assist in every 50 minutes this season. The English hitman could wreak havoc on Sunday. South Korean sensation Son Heung Min has formed a strong partnership with Harry Kane this season resulting into 10 goals for him, which makes him one of the deadliest marksmen in the Premier League this season.

He is the joint top goal scorer alongside Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin. In him, Tottenham possesses a goalscoring machine.

Another English man Tammy Abraham is living up to the billing as he is looking to score in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since September 2019. He’s scored 18 Premier League goals since the start of last season, twice as many as any other player for the Blues.

With such an incredible record up for grabs, banging in goals against Tottenham won’t come as surprise.

Furthermore, Frank Lampard can also become the first manager to beat Jose Mourinho three consecutive times. Mourinho has never been on the losing side for three consecutive league games against the same manager or club.

It was ignominious for Tottenham to lose twice against Chelsea in the Premier League last season under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho. A tale of sweet revenge cannot be ruled out in this encounter.

Spurs are left with a mountain to climb at Stamford Bridge, just like in past years when they kept just one clean sheet in their last 17 away matches against Chelsea in all competitions, a 0-0 draw in March 2012.

Also, Jose Mourinho’s outfit have won just one of their last 34 away games against Chelsea in all competitions, losing the last three in a row since a 3-1 victory in April 2018. At the moment, Spurs are one of three sides with a 100% away record in the competition so far this term and that can proselytize them to break the jinx.

On Roman Abrahimovic’s big day, a win for Chelsea on his home turf will make it merrier against Jose Mourinho who is the most successful manager he has ever worked with.
