For the third time in the year 2020, the Senate on Tuesday, asked the President Muhammadu Buhari to sack service chiefs as a result of their failure to secure Nigerians.

The Senate resolution was upon a motion proposed by Senator Kashim Shettima on the recent killing of 34 rice farmers in Borno State by the Boko Haram insurgents.

The Senate in its resolution asked the president to fire the security chiefs “immediately” and replace them with new ones.

Besides the Senate has ordered a probe into allegations of corruption levelled against the top hierarchy of the military just as it asked the president to seek help from neigbouring countries involved in the multi-national task force to help in the fight against insurgency.

While asking for proper welfare for the military, the Senate resolution also directed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, NEMA and NEDC to provide assistance and necessary psychological comfort for the  families of the victims.
