Mr. Bashir Ahmad, a senior aide of President Muhammadu Buhari has drawn attraction on social media after he joined critics in lambasting youths for failing to turn out to upturn the political ascendancy of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in Lagos.

The by-election in the Lagos East Senatorial district had been expected to be keenly fought with the APC suffering collateral damages arising from the difficulties in the land.

Expectation had also been that youths who recently mobilized for the #EndSARS protests would come out in large numbers to defeat the APC candidate, Tokunbo Abiru, who is a known associate of the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Tinubu.

However, the expectations were firmly dashed last Saturday as the election was characterized by very poor turnout.

Out of the expected millions only about 100,000 voters turned out with the APC winning 89% of the votes leaving the PDP opposition with just 11%.
