The statement credited to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State that President Muhammadu Buhari has done well in tackling the problem of Boko Haram in the North-East in the country, has elicited reactions.

GWG recalls that Boko Haram insurgents have attacked the convoy of Governor Zulum twice killing security operatives attached to him. Recently, over 40 rice farmers were killed in Zarbarmari in Jere Local government of Borno State.

Despite this, it became surprising to many when Governor Zulum stated that irrespective of everything, President Buhari has done a great job.

“From statewide statistics on affairs in the 27 local government areas since 2011, the fact is that despite the recent happenings in Borno State, the security situation in Borno State and indeed that of the Entire North East Sub-region is still far better under Buhari, and this is based on records.

Reacting to this development, the Personal Assistant to the president on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed the assertion of the governor.

Ahmad stated that over 100 girls have been rescued and emirs have returned back to their kingdoms.

He wrote: “FACTS: A lot has changed in Borno under PMB, 1000s incl. more than 100 Chibok girls rescued, emirs back to their kingdoms, LGAs liberated, electricity restored, schools, airport, stadium all reopened, curfew lifted, social life returned. We might’ve forgotten, but PMB has tried.”
