Bandits Kidnap Katsina Monarch, 9 Subjects

The police in Katsina State have launched a manhunt for bandits who kidnapped the traditional ruler of Gamji village in Subuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The monarch, Malam Falalu Galadima was abducted alongside 12 of his subjects on Wednesday morning by bandits who reportedly came in large numbers in the wee of the night. Police sources, however, say that nine persons were actually kidnapped by the bandits.

The Police spokesperson in Katsina, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the abduction said that the police had launched moves to apprehend the kidnappers.

“As I speak with you, our men are in the forest, trying to locate the kidnapped persons and make sure that they are rescued safely,” Isah told Daily Trust.a

A resident, who preferred not to be named for security reasons told Daily Trust that 13 people were kidnapped.

“We have counted 13 people so far who were kidnapped, all of them male, including the village head and a Law School student.

“Initially, they kidnapped about 26 people, but halfway into the bush they screened them, taken those 13 with them and sent others back home,” the source said.
