The 333 abducted school boys from Kankara, Katsina State have been traced to a forest in Zamfara State, Governor Bello Masari said on Wednesday.

The governor who spoke in an interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC also said that the government was negotiating with the bandits who took the students.

He, however, affirmed that contrary to the claim of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau that the boys were not taken by his group.

“They are in Zamfara forests, we have gotten the information,” Masari said.

He said his government is negotiating with the bandits to ensure the release of the abducted students.

“We are negotiating with those that have abducted the students and we want to ensure that we secure their release,” he added.

Earlier in another programme on Channels Television the governor ruled out payment of money to the bandits for the release of the hostages.
