Nigeria’s COVID-19 Deaths Hits Daily Peak Of 30
Nigeria’s COVID-19 deaths hit a daily peak of 30 on Friday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC reported.
The agency also reported that the country registered a total of 1114 new cases of the pandemic on Friday.
GWG reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC made the report on its twitter handle late in the day.
The 1114 new cases were reported in 21 states and the FCT, the agency reported.
The 1114 new COVID-19 cases in Nigeria brought the total number of cases reported in the country since the onset of the pandemic to 128,674. Out of that number, 102,780 have been discharged after treatment.
The 30 deaths on Friday brought the total number of deaths associated with the pandemic to 1577. It was the highest number of deaths since the pandemic touched the country last February.
Lagos State had the highest number of new cases with 408 new cases followed by the FCT with 95 and Plateau with 90 new cases.

Meanwhile, Edo State has recorded 32 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 18 recoveries, with the state government enjoining residents to be cautious and observe all precautionary health and safety protocols to guard against the spread of the deadly virus.
The State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, said this during a meeting of the Edo State COVID-19 Taskforce chaired by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Obi disclosed that one of the new confirmed cases was reported from the Edo Specialist Hospital laboratory while the remaining 31 were confirmed at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) laboratory.
According to him, “Cumulatively since the outbreak of the pandemic, Edo State has recorded a total of 3,721 confirmed cases, 136 deaths, 3000 recoveries, 617 health workers infections with 29, 250 samples collected.”
