Kidnapped Wedding Guests Relocated To Benue Forest

Kidnappers of 26 wedding guests in Taraba State have moved them to Benue State it emerged at the weekend. It has also emerged that the kidnappers have made a ransom demand of N2m on each of the 26 guests.

The 26 abductees were kidnaped on Wednesday while returning from a wedding in Wukari while travelling along the Wukari-Takum highway.

The relocation of the wedding guest abductees was confirmed by the police to Saturday Punch.

Taraba State Command spokesman David Misal told Saturday Punch:

“Yes the victims were kidnapped along Wukari-Takum road. But from the information available to me, the victims have been moved to the neighbouring Benue State. Further enquiries about the victims should be directed to the police public relations officer in Benue State.

“One thing is certain here, security agencies are working on the issue. But as I said, further enquiries should be directed to the PPRO in Benue State where the victims are currently being held hostage.”

The revelation of the relocation of the abductees to the Benue forests came as it emerged that the kidnappers have put a ransom of N2 million on each of the kidnapped victims.

Meanwhile, a family member of one of the victims who spoke on condition of anonymity told our correspondent that the kidnappers had contacted the affected families to demand N2m ransom per victim. Misal also said that the kidnappers had contacted the victims’ families.
