Delta APC: Erue Warns Against Illegal Registration
The chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prophet Jones Erue has warned against illegal registration of party members by some using irregular registration materials..
Erue in a statement obtained by GreenWhiteGreen, GWG affirmed that the registration of party members which is going on nationwide is yet to commence in Delta State. He as such warned that no one should be hoodwinked into the activities of some persons to conduct an illegal registration
Erue cited administrative bottlenecks for the delay.
However, GreenWhiteGreen GWG, had earlier reported misgivings between leaders of the party which culminated in a meeting with stakeholders of the party from the state meeting with the national leadership as delegated by Governor Sani Bello, chairman of the national membership and revalidation committee.
That meeting was upon claims by Festus Keyamo that an unnamed leader of the party in the state had was directing the registration exercise by appointing the two coordinators for each of the Local Government Areas.
Keyamo had followed up by saying that there was no single leader of the party in the state, an assertion that was rebuffed by some other leaders who poohpoohed his claim by asserting the leadership of the deputy president of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
Following the meeting with Governor Bello which was boycotted by Omo-Agege, the stakeholders from Delta State were asked to go and put their house in order.
Saying that the ‘bottlenecks’ delayed the registration exercise, Prophet Erue in a statement said:
“It is hereby announced to the general public and members of the APC in Delta State in particular that the nationwide membership registration, revalidation and update exercise for Delta State has not commenced officially as being speculated in some quarters due to some administrative bottlenecks which has been addressed.
“This notice is necessitated by rumours of membership registration purportedly going on in some local government areas in which names of people are being written on sheets of papers.
“The party uses this medium to caution those behind such charade to desist immediately and await the distribution of materials and official commencement of the registration exercise.”
