The Duty Of A Leader In Providing For Followers

Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and THOU SHALT BRING FORTH TO THEM WATER out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

Numbers 20:8.

God in response to the yearning of the people directs Moses to BRING to them their needs.

We see God here not just making provisions for His people, but apparently laying the principle that leaders have the responsibility to see to the welfare of the congregation.

That was the same idea in John 21:16 when Jesus told Peter feed my sheep.

Jesus in John 10:11 had also said that the good shepherd would give his life for the sheep.

This is a challenging order for all in leadership; in the church, home and wherever, especially for our priests, pastors and preachers.

This tall order for Moses meant to squeeze water out of the rock!!!

For some today it may not be as such or it may even be more.

But whatever, it’s our duty to pray that God would empower our leaders with grace to meet the challenges of the congregation they lead.

May all that supposed to feed me not be deprived of this grace that I may also be empowered to feed all that I lead in my small corner!!!
