BREAKING: Nigeria’s Super Eagles Qualify For 2022 AFCON
Super Eagles have become the 15th team to qualify for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon after Sierra Leone failed to beat home team Lesotho in a Group L match today.
Lesotho and Sierra Leone played out a scoreless draw, which means that the Leone Stars have four points from five matches and can at best record only seven points should they beat Benin in their final group on Tuesday.
Lesotho are already eliminated as they now have three points and even in the unlikely event they beat Nigeria in Lagos Tuesday, they can only finish on six points.
Nigeria top Group L with eight points, while Benin are on seven points.
A point for Benin today will also qualify them for the trournament proper in Cameroon in Janaury as they will be on eight points, which is mathematically impossible for Sierra Leone to now get to.
