Fate Of Missing Air Force Jet Uncertain 12 Hours After
More than twelve hours after the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) declared one of its aircraft missing, the fate of the missing aircraft and its crew remain uncertain.
The aircraft GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered went out of radar contact during an operation in the Northern part of the country on Wednesday.
Specific details about the operations were not available as at press time.
The Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet in a terse statement confirming the development, said:
“A NAF aircraft on (a) routine mission in support of own troops at one of the Theatres of Operation in the Northern part of Nigeria has lost radar contact.”
The DOPRI also stated that efforts are currently ongoing to locate the aircraft’s whereabouts, adding that more details will follow as the situation develops.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that on 21 February, a B350 Air Force air craft, on a mission to locate the students of Kagara Secondary School, Niger State, kidnapped by bandits crashed in its approach to Abuja.
All six persons in the aircraft died and were given a state burial in Abuja.
