The two All Progressives Congress, APC governors in the Southeast, David Umahi and Hope Uzodimma have disagreed over the perpetrators of the recent attacks in the Southeast.

Whereas Governor Uzodimma of Imo State had differently accused the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and his political enemies of masterminding the attacks, Governor Umahi on Wednesday traced the attacks to those he described as bandits.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG recalls that Governor Uzodimma had after the penultimate Monday attacks on the Owerri Prison and the police command headquarters separately accused IPOB and his political enemies for being responsible for the attacks.

However, disagreeing with Uzodimma on Wednesday, Umahi said:

He said: “Of late, we have bandits that are doing a lot of evil and say that they are Eastern Security Network. They commit a lot of crimes and say that they are IPOB and later IPOB will say they have no hand in it. This is what is going on. We will not allow illegality to thrive in our land. Conflict will not resolve conflict,” Umahi said disagreeing with Uzodimma on those who fanned the attacks.

While affirming that Southeast governors won’t allow the insecurity to take hold upon the region said that it was in that direction that the governors jointly resolved to set up a regional security outfit that has been named Ebube Agu.

“Ebubeagu is to protect the lives of everyone in the South-East,” the governor affirmed as he called on the populace not to play politics with the issue of security.

He said that playing politics with the security situation would not do good for the people and the region.

“The truth remains that the country is going into extreme politics, it is easier to make money in politics, blackmail people and so, we have departed from the culture of hard work,” he said.

Umahi and Uzodimma are the only two governors in the Southeast and South-South region.
