First pictures from the secret wedding between Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds have emerged with the bride’s wedding dress reported to have £2,870 (N1.67 million)

The news of the wedding on Saturday took the United Kingdom by surprise given earlier announcements that the wedding would take place next summer.

The PM and Ms. Symonds tied the knot at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday before a select audience of specially invited friends and family.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that it is Boris Johnson’s third marriage and the first for Carrie Symonds.

“The couple will celebrate their wedding with family and friends next summer,” it was announced and it is reported that Ms Symonds who worked as a Conservative Party operative before the meeting with Boris Johnson will bear her husband’s surname and be known as Carrie Johnson.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Boris Johnson is the first British prime minister in almost 200 years to have married while in office. The last was Lord Liverpool who married Mary Chester in 1822.

The wedding came at the end of a very difficult week for the prime minister who had been mired in controversy after his one time trusted aide, Dominic Cummings made unflattering descriptions of Mr. Boris Johnson with the depiction that he is unfit for public office.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger has said Manchester City could not find a way through the Chelsea defence because of Thomas Tuchel’s brilliant strategy in Saturday’s Champions League final.

Edouard Mendy had to make just one save throughout the game — that pretty much illustrates how comfortable Chelsea were defensively.

Although, to be fair, neither team registered any shot on target in the second half. But for Chelsea, who were leading at that point, it was the best scenario that they could have hoped for.

According to Wenger, the positioning of two Chelsea inside forwards; Mason Mount and Kai Havertz, was the key to their success.
