Kemisola Ogunniyi, the alleged #EndSARS protester who was delivered of a baby in prison, has been granted temporary relief to attend her baby’s naming ceremony on Wednesday.

Miss Ogunniyi who has also been granted a N10 million bail will return to the prison custody after the baby’s naming ceremony if she is unable to meet the conditions of the bail.

Ogunniyi was arrested by soldiers in Akure, Ondo State capital, after the violence that erupted in the wake of the October 2020 #EndSARS protests and incarcerated upon the claim of the authorities that she was part of those involved in the destruction that followed the #EndSARS protest.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the lady was about two months pregnant at the time of her arrest. She gave birth to a baby boy on June 16, 2021 while still in prison custody.

On Tuesday, an Ondo High Court granted bail to Ogunniyi who had been detained at Surulere Prison in Ondo East Local Government Area of the state.

In his ruling on her bail application, Justice Omolara Adejumo granted Ogunniyi a N10 million bail and a surety in like sum.

The judge also ordered the prison authorities to allow Ogunniyi to go home for her child’s naming even if the bail application is not met.

The Judge held that the Ogunniyi should return to prison to fulfill her bail condition after the naming ceremony scheduled for Wednesday. She was, however, mute if she is to return with her baby.

Ogunniyi and three others were accused of razing the state secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ogunniyi alongside other suspects were charged with arson, riotous assembly, stealing and malicious damage.
