Abuja Multiple Road Accidents Leave Many Severely Injured

Three Crushed To Death As Truck Rams Into Motorcycle In Abeokuta

Unspecified number of persons sustained various degree of injury during a multiple auto crash in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

Vehicle inspection officer Veronica Dapel confirmed the mishap. She disclosed that no fewer than seven vehicles and a motorcycle were involved in the road crash that occurred on Wednesday morning near Karu bridge, Nyanya.

Dapel explained that the multiple road crash occurred while security officials tried to evacuate a truck that fell on its side.

“The trailer contained canned drinks and bags of rice. So, while we were clearing the things to clear the traffic, this (the multiple road crash) also happened behind,’’ Ms Dapel, from Nyanya command, said.

She, however, said no death was recorded, but many people sustained injuries.

“The injured ones have been taken to the hospital for proper medical attention,’’ added Ms Dapel.

A witness described the multiple auto crash as unfortunate. He said that the incident led to traffic congestion on the road.

“You can see our vehicle is also affected, thereby hampering our journey from Abuja to Jos this morning,’’ he said.

One of the auto crash casualty, who doesn’t want her identity disclosed, expressed gratitude to God that the accident did not claim her life, noting that the crash happened in the space of micro seconds.

She explained that the vehicles were coming from the Abuja metropolis, going towards Mararaba direction.

No fewer than eight vehicles were involved in the multiple auto crash, with a motorcycle crushed between a Toyota coaster bus and a truck.

The motorcycle rider sustained a severe leg injury.
