Senator Ayogu Eze dies

Senator Ayogu Eze, who represented Enugu North Senatorial Zone and served as the former Senate Committee Chairman on Information and Media, has passed away.

He died at the age of 66 in an Abuja hospital on Thursday after battling an undisclosed illness.

During his tenure in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2015, Eze played a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s legislative landscape.

He was a member of the Constitution Drafting and Amendment Committee, contributing to key changes in the country’s 1999 constitution.

Following his reelection in 2011, Eze assumed the position of chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, where he continued to make valuable contributions to infrastructure development. Additionally, he served on various other committees, including Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.

Born on November 23, 1958, Senator Ayogu Eze began his legislative journey when he was elected Senator for the Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State, Nigeria, on June 5, 2007.
