Breaking: Police Arrest Controversial Kano Preacher

Kano Police Command on Friday arrested controversial Kano cleric, Sheikh Albduljabar Nasir Kabara. Security sources confided in  GreenWhiteGreen GWG that Sheikh Abduljabar was picked up at his residence.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that the controversial Islamic cleric was subsequently on Friday arraigned before an Upper Sharia Court at Kofar Kudu,

He was charged for blasphemy, incitement, and sundry offences.

The presiding Khadi, Alkali Ibrahim Sarki Yola.shortly after taking his plea adjourned the case to July 28.

He ordered that the scholar should remain under police custody until Monday when he would be sent to prison till the adjourned date.

Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, incenced Kano  and the Muslim Umma in Kano for his controversial religious commentaries and statements that were seen as insulting, if not sacrilegious as concerning the eminence of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) in the Islamic world.

Abduljabbar is considered one of the most controversial Muslim scholars in Northern Nigeria and had been serially accused of blasphemy in some quarters after he started tilting towards the Shia sect as against the Sunni sect that is dominant in Nigeria.

The arrest follows the closure of his mosque by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the ban slapped on him from preaching in any part of the state.
