Delta 2023: Ijaw Seek Ndokwa Support For 3 Aspirants

The Delta Ijaw For Governor 2023 project has put forward three Ijaw politicians for consideration for the office of governor in 2023 during a parley with representatives of the Ndokwa nation.

The Ijaw who were led by former minister, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo said that like the Ndokwa, that they had been relegated in the politics of Delta despite their contributions. They affirmed that those who had disregarded zoning in the past should not canvass zoning for 2023.

The assertions were made when the Delta Ijaw for 2023 visited the Ndokwa Neku Union, the highest socio-cultural organization of the Ndokwa nation.

Brig-Gen Mike Ndubusisi (rtd) who received the Ijaw delegation on behalf of his executive said that like the Ijaw, that the Ndokwa had also suffered similar deprivation in Delta State.

Alaowei Bozimo in making the case for an Ijaw governor of Delta State in 2023 said that an Ijaw governor would better appreciate the plight of the Ndokwa given shared problems of the two ethnic groups.

While noting how the Ijaw had supported other ethnic groups selflessly in the past, he said that the Ijaw had prepared aspirants any of whom could be governor of Delta State.

He listed them as Senator James Manager, Kingsley Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State and Dr. Braduce Amakazi Angozi, former:  commissioner for Agriculture.

While noting that any of the three could be governor of Delta State, he said:
“I believe that the hand of God is deeply involved in this Ijaw for 2023 Governorship movement because all the narratives favour the Ijaws. We will all dance to Asaba to install a new king in the Government House who will be an Ijaw man, our God specialises in impossibilities”, he said.

On the argument for zoning as canvassed by the Urhobo, he said:

“Power has gone round to all the three senatorial districts in Delta State, hence it is not out of place for an Ijaw man from the Delta South Senatorial District to become Governor come 2023, the Ijaws have sacrificed a lot economically, politically and otherwise to merit the Governor of Delta State come 2023.

“This is not an ethnic matter; we are part of Delta State hence we should be given a sense of belonging. We have competent aspirants that can deliver and that those who disregarded zoning in the past and contested all Governorship elections in the state have no moral justification to talk about zoning”.

Responding, Gen. Ndubuisi commended the Ijaw delegation for their dedication to their project saying:

“Looking at the list of members from your team, we can see the seriousness of the Ijaw ahead of 2023.

He said that the Ndokwa like the Ijaw speak with one voice as he said that in due season that they people would take the appropriate decision.
